mark. The ASTA BEAB site contains a online catalogue of all approved products - so consumers can check whether a product has an approval.

BRE Certification operates its Part P Competent Person Scheme in partnership with the Electrical Contractors Association. BRE Certification carries out third party approvals and certification specialising in the construction, environment and fire & security sectors. Certification is the “third party confirmation that products, services, systems and personnel meet and continue to meet the appropriate standards�. In this way BRE confirms that the firms that are registered with its Part P Competent Person Scheme meet, and continue to meet, the requirements of Part P of the Building Regulations which covers electrical installations in dwellings.

NICEIC acts as the electrical contracting industry's independent voluntary regulatory body for electrical installation safety matters throughout the UK. It maintains and publishes registers of electrical contractors that have been assessed against Scheme requirements, including the national electrical safety standard BS 7671, the IEE Wiring Regulations. The registers NICEIC maintains and publishes include the national Roll of Approved Contractors (established in 1956), and the Register of Domestic Installers. Since January 2005, Domestic Installers have been authorised to self-certify their domestic electrical installation work as compliant with the Building Regulations for England and Wales.
