Leaflet preview

The Electrical Safety Council has produced a home hazards leaflet for contractors to use when visiting customers and providing quotes.

The 'So you think your house is safe?' leaflet aims to encourage householders to implement simple, but effective procedures for a safer home and is issued with every Building Control Certificate, reaching up to 70,000 households per month. They are ideal for contractors who want to leave additional information on electrical safety for clients when quoting a job.

Emma McCarthy, director of the Electrical Safety Council said: "We want this leaflet to be a useful way for contractors to communicate electrical safety to their current and potential customers. The Electrical Safety Council, supports and works with contractors to increase awareness of electrical hazards, ultimately to reduce fatalities and injuries."

The 19-page leaflet is packed full of advice to help improve public awareness of common electrical hazards in and around the home. Topics covered include, which particular electrical hazards can occur in different rooms around the house, how to spot if plugs and wires are faulty, how often you should have your wiring checked, and getting to know the electrics in your home, as well as much more.

This useful leaflet is just one part of a much wider campaign the Electrical Safety Council is carrying out to raise consumer awareness of electrical safety and help householders maintain an electrically safe home for themselves and their family.
